[ There's that lovely playful side of Nicky. He could be so silly in the right mood and rarely did anyone else get to see it. Joe treasures these moments so comfortable and at ease.

[ By the time Joe's got him down, Nicky is still laughing, because he is full of bliss and still inside Joe, and it is not a place he wants to leave yet. He blossoms and brightens, all for Joe, and he is so happy for it. ]

[ Nicky slowly draws out, groaning as he collapses at Joe's side, resting his cheek on his chest, reaching down to drag his thumb over Joe's knee. ] Any word from Copley about our vacation home?

[ He glances down at the top of Nicky's head. He can't see Joe's rather amused look but he hopes his husband feels it. ]

Do you think I have my cellphone on me right now?

[ It is somewhere in his pants which are on the floor being completely ignored. There could be plenty of messages but he has no idea. ]

I'll check in... ten minutes.

[ It's the right answer. Nicky smiles against Joe's torso and wraps his arm around him to pull him in closer, as tight as he can manage, shifting so he can rest his chin on Joe's breastbone, peering up at him. ]

[ He strokes circles with his palm, content to settle in with him and lounge naked in their glorious honeymoon suite. ]

Every time we are here, I think it will not live up to my hopes, but it has yet to fail. Malta is still a perfect jewel for me.

[ He runs his fingers through Nicky's hair his expression soft and sweet. ]

We are not counting the one interrupted by the Spanish Civil War. That was beyond my control.

[ It was very rare something interrupted their time alone together. Everyone knew why it was important to them. ]

It is our first home.

Not a single time, not unless I have tempted you into it. [ For that, he smiles his sweetest offering for Joe, utterly at ease and happy. It is the most perfect thing he could ask for, this time with him.

And Joe calls it home, which it is. ]

I think my first home was when you told me you loved me. Then, I knew my home was you, just like you say to me.

I do occasionally like to tease. [ He cannot resist that smile. Joe leans in and kisses him gently. ]

Well, my first home is always with you but this place gives me many of the same feelings. There are traces of our cultures and the sea which we both love. How could it not be home?

[ They simply need to buy a physical house here so it is official in paperwork and a building. ]

[ That burst of warmth that comes when Joe talks about their home and the both of them is something he is not embarrassed about, but that he still buries into Joe's chest when he smiles. Mainly because it makes him feel open and vulnerable, such a desperate aching. ]

Maybe we should negotiate a month of time off every year, and we will come back to Malta. I'll keep a well stocked kitchen from the market and imagine if we could have a sea-side view.

I think we could make that happen.

[ Joe chuckles as Nicky hides away and immediately wraps his arms around him to protect him from that vulnerable feeling. ]

We need to make a list of what we want and then find a realtor.

[ They had the identities. They could get a house right now once they knew exactly what they wanted. ]

Why should we make a realtor deal with us? We are both old enough, let's do it ourselves.

[ He says this with the fiendish smirk of someone who anticipates making the lives of some home-sellers very annoyed with an immortal Italian and his husband, because Nicky might be kind, but he also loves a good bargain. ]

And what do you require, for our Malta home?

A realtor will put distance between us and the sellers. We still have to be careful, my love.

[ There are times when Nicky's bargain hunting is good. Home ownership is not one of them. ]

I don't know. A big kitchen for you. Lots of natural light for my art. A pool. Next to the sea.

[ Apparently, he does have some idea after all. ]

[ Nicky makes a grumbling noise, because it makes sense, but he doesn't have to like it. ] Sealed anonymous offers, then? [ He knows they have to, but the idea of touring the homes and then haggling down on the price is something he longs for.

He will have to save his bargaining for the market, where he can get in bickering matches with the local vendors of fruits and vegetables. ]

If we faced the sea, we could have a big window in the bedroom so we could parade around as naked as we want.

Maybe. Perhaps there is something Copley can do for us. [ He would like to see the houses in person. It's the only way to truly judge the light quality. ] I would like to see them.

[ He laughs at Nicky's suggestion but it's not one he's upset about. ]

We would need a big bed as well. To better to soak up the sun while we lie around naked together.

We should make Copley fly out here and be our proxy. Wear a camera, so we can see what he sees.

[ It would only be fair, after what Copley put them through, if he's honest. ]

One big king sized bed with silk sheets. That way, your hair does not frizz in the humidity.

[ He's pouting a little over that idea. Copley will 'taint' the place which is a stupid thought to have but that's the thought he has. ]

[ Nicky's eyes widen in alarm, all thoughts of the house evaporating as he latches both hands into Joe's hair, his brows furrowed. ]

[ He laughs at Nicky's passionate response. ]

I know you love my curls but that is quite the response. Does this mean I can't shave my beard either?

[ It would be tragic when he had to for the next identity. ]
